When Light Breaks In is about that sacred turning point — the moment when hope presses through darkness, and presence fills the empty space. I painted this on a warm day with Autumn, just a few months old, sleeping beside me. There was something about her peacefulness that contrasted so deeply with the weight I still carried from the harder seasons. And as I poured this piece, I felt that shift — like something heavy was being lifted just by letting the light in.

Darkness folds into the left side of the canvas, layered in charcoal, moss, and deep crimson. But from the right, light pours in — blush, white, and silver swirling in gentle movement, refusing to be held back. The center is where they meet — where contrast turns to clarity, and something holy breaks through.

Part of the Living Waters collection, When Light Breaks In is a reminder that even the thickest night can’t stop the Spirit from reaching us. Light doesn’t ask permission. It arrives, it surrounds, and it transforms.
