A Potential New Project
Well, this has been quite the week.
I've been reading "Divine Healing" by Andrew Murray and I've come to a whole new understanding on how Christ bore our sin and our sickness so that we could be healed.
I've realized that it's God's will that we be healed. The only thing standing in our way is us. Jesus is my divine healer and he is healing me always. I just need to hand over responsibility to Him for my body! It's nothing short of a miracle what this mental shift has accomplished for me.
In terms of painting...
I haven’t quite finished the final piece in my Canadian wildlife series — a wolf in the forest — but I’m really hoping to wrap it up this weekend. It’s the last one to complete, and I’m looking forward to seeing the full collection come together in one place.
In the meantime, here are four of the finished works from the series:

I haven’t named most of the pieces yet — I like to sit with them for a while and let the right titles come naturally. The only one that’s been named so far is the magpie painting, which I called "Still Seen." It’s about the feeling of being misunderstood, but still noticed and known — something I think a lot of us (and magpies) can relate to.
While the wildlife series is nearly finished, this past week has also taken me in a completely new direction. I’ve been preparing a proposal for a public mural at our town pool — something I’ve never done before, but have always wanted to try.
If it’s accepted, this would be my first mural project, created alongside youth volunteers from the community. It would be painted throughout August and completed by the end of the month.
Taking on a project like this would mean pushing my next studio series into September, which isn’t easy for me as someone who likes to plan ahead. But I’m trying to hold it with open hands. If the door opens, I want to step through it with trust, even if the timeline shifts.
That said, I’ve already started casually sketching for the next series. It’s very early — just a rough planning sketch for now — but I wanted to share a little peek:

It’s still forming, but I’m excited for where it might go once there’s space to explore it more fully.
Originals from the wildlife series are available by request — if you’re interested in a piece, feel free to reach out through the contact page on my site. I’ll be handling original acquisitions personally for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for reading — and for following along as things continue to grow and shift.
Warmly with love,
— Martina
