2025 MIXED MEDIA COLLECTION
ABIDE
The Abide series was born out of a season of learning to remain — not to strive, fix, or perform, but to stay rooted in Christ. These paintings reflect the quiet work that happens when we stop grasping for control and allow God to lead, sustain, and restore. Each piece is an invitation to rest in His presence and trust the fruit that comes from abiding. Each piece in the Abide collection was painted prayerfully, as a meditation on John 15 — a visual expression of learning to rest, remain, and trust the work God is doing beneath the surface.
ORIGINAL PAINTINGS:
"the veil was torn"
24" x 30"
Mixed Media on Canvas
As soon as I was inspired to paint this piece, light began breaking through cracks in the wooden cross. It immediately brought me back to the moment in Scripture when Jesus breathed His last and the temple veil was torn from top to bottom.
This painting reflects that sacred rupture: the separation between God and man undone in an instant. Light where there was once barrier. Access where there was once distance. It is a visual reminder that through Christ’s sacrifice, we no longer stand outside — we are invited in.
“Be Still”
18" x 24"
Mixed Media on Canvas
This painting of Jesus bowing His head carries a deep quiet with it. The verse “Be still, and know that I am God” followed me through nearly the entire creation of this series.
Whenever I began to push, overthink, or rush the process, this verse would surface again — calling me back to trust and rest. Be Still is not passive resignation; it’s active surrender. It reflects the strength found in quiet obedience and the peace that comes when we stop striving and let God be God.
“Surrender”
36" x 48"
Mixed Media on Canvas
This piece took time to name — but when the word Surrender came, it settled immediately. It felt right.
This painting represents the laying down of control, expectations, and self-effort. Not defeat, but release. A posture of open hands. It reflects the moment when resistance softens and trust takes its place — when faith becomes less about understanding and more about yielding.
“Abide”
36" x 48"
Mixed Media on Canvas
The final piece of the series bears the name that shaped it all.
Abide represents remaining — staying rooted in Christ regardless of circumstances. It speaks to the slow, unseen work that happens when we choose to stay close instead of striving for fruit. This painting holds the quiet confidence that what God sustains does not need to be forced.
It is both an invitation and a reminder: life flows not from effort, but from remaining in Him.
FAQs
The Abide collection is about learning to remain in Christ instead of striving.
It was created during a season of choosing stillness over control, trust over understanding, and presence over performance. Rather than pushing for clarity or outcomes, this series reflects the quiet work that happens when we stay close to God and allow Him to lead.
Each painting represents a moment along that path — surrender, stillness, access to God through Christ, and the peace that comes from remaining rooted in Him. The collection draws from John 15, where Jesus calls us to abide in Him, reminding us that true life and fruitfulness don’t come from effort alone, but from relationship.
At its heart, Abide is an invitation:
to rest, to remain, and to trust the work God is doing beneath the surface — even when it’s unseen.
Limited edition prints are produced in a small, fixed number and will not be reprinted once the edition sells out. Each print is signed and numbered to preserve its uniqueness and value.
Yes. Each title reflects the heart behind the piece — emotions, spiritual truths, or quiet reminders drawn from time spent in nature and prayer. Short descriptions for each work are available above.
This is an important and thoughtful question, and one I’ve spent time praying through.
Scripture is clear in Exodus and throughout the Bible that God forbids the worship of created things in place of Him. This collection is not created for worship, veneration, or representation of God Himself as an object of devotion.
The Abide collection is meant to point toward Christ, not replace Him.
Just as Scripture, music, poetry, or written reflections can help draw our hearts toward God without becoming objects of worship themselves, these paintings serve as visual reminders of biblical truths — surrender, stillness, access to God through Christ, and abiding in Him.
They are not meant to be prayed to, bowed before, or treated as sacred objects. They are expressions of reflection and testimony, created prayerfully, to encourage remembrance of what Christ has already accomplished.
Ultimately, worship belongs to God alone.
If at any point a created thing becomes the focus instead of Him, it has lost its proper place. My hope is that these works gently redirect the heart back to Christ, not to the canvas.
Commission inquiries are welcome, though availability is limited. Commissioned works are inspired by the same themes but are never exact replicas of existing pieces. Please see Martina's commission page for more details.
