From the Ashes is a quiet but powerful declaration — a reminder that God can bring life from the most barren places. I painted this outside on our acreage in the Thousand Islands, with my newborn daughter Autumn asleep beside me in her bassinet. That summer was filled with sacred stillness, new motherhood, and a deep awareness of beauty in the smallest things. This piece, like many from that season, felt like a prayer poured out in color.

The surface is rough and grey, textured like ash or weathered earth. But from its center bursts a bloom of vibrant fuchsia, soft pink, and white — fierce, radiant, and full of life. The colors move with conviction, pushing upward like new growth after fire. It’s the Spirit showing up in defiance of despair — a visual resurrection.
