The story behind “Where Wonder Lands”:
I didn’t plan this painting. I just knew I needed to make room for something to move—something deeper than words. I had been sitting with the weight of the world for days, watching how easily beauty gets buried beneath the noise, the pride, the pain of a world that’s lost its way.
So I turned to the canvas, and let the colours speak first.
“Where Wonder Lands” began with that ache—an ache for light, for clarity, for God’s presence to break through what felt too broken to name. The background formed itself in heavy streaks and deep shadows, a quiet reflection of the world we live in: fallen, fractured, caught in patterns of sin and sorrow. But into that darkness, something softer began to stir.
A rose took shape—tender, unfolding, unapologetically alive. And above it, light began to descend. Not loud or overwhelming, but steady and sure. It felt like grace. Like hope refusing to stay silent.
This piece is about what happens when the light of Jesus meets a world that has forgotten how to see it. When wonder chooses to land not in perfection, but in broken places ready to receive.
Part of the Created in Colour collection, “Where Wonder Lands” is a visual prayer—layered, emotional, and honest. It’s about the divine spark that still breaks through. The colour that still dares to speak.
